Coffee & Cheese Pairing
What is it?
During our Sunday market we are offering a session of coffee and cheese pairing. Its all about finding that perfect brew to go with that gorgeous brie. Join us and let your tastebuds explore the world of some delicious coffees and mouthwatering cheeses.
About the pairing:
Dabbling in the world of pairings is fun. A successful marriage of food and beverage creates harmony among contrasting flavors and accentuates complementary characteristics, delivering an exciting experience for the palate.
The specialty coffee realm provides a playful space for flavor combinations, especially when it comes to cheese. The taste and texture of cheese makes it ideal for balancing coffee’s acidity and helps identify flavour profiles of different coffee.
Speciality coffee roaster Divya Jayshankar and artisan cheesemaker Namrata Sundaresan take you through a pairing of 3 coffees with cheesee
1- Medium acidity, light roast
- Young Manchego
- Ash & morning crusted cream cheese
2 - Medium acidity, medium roast
- Crottin (crumbly, salt)
3 - Low acidity, dark roast
- Fig leaf wrapped Brie
About Käse Cheese:
We love Käse as they work with people with disabilities to make artisanal cow milk cheese. Käse was founded in June 2016, its name meaning cheese in the German language. However, it wasn’t until they won the ‘Taste of the Market’ award at Karen Anand’s first farmers market in Chennai that the duo put on entrepreneurial hats. The duo decided that they were on to something and went on to create a niche for themselves with a brand of cheese that is locally-made and “clean” – free from any form of additives, preservatives, stabilizers and emulsifiers found in processed cheese. The cheese is made at the Käse unit located in Alwarpet, Chennai. For the founders, artisanal making and clean processing are the hallmarks of their initiative.
About Beachville Coffee:
Beachville scours India for its most complex, tasty and special coffees and finds their sweet spot, that perfect roast paired with the optimal brew method that translate the coffee's inherent origins and story to your cup. They directly procure coffee beans from the best and most sustainable specialty estates. The coffees are then roasted according to their flavour profile, ground and packaged in their unit in Chennai.
