Come spend the next 2 weekends in May at a "Short Film Practical Workshop", learning film making using everyday technology from an expert film maker and professor, Dr. Uma Vangal.  The 5 day workshop will be conducted at the renowned Apparao Galleries, synonymous for curating the best art and talent.

5 day workshop over 2 weekends  x 4 hours per session:

  • May 5th, Friday: 5 pm - 9 pm
  • May 6th, Saturday: 3 pm - 7 pm
  • May 7th, Sunday: 11 am - 3 pm
  • May 13th, Saturday: 3 pm - 7 pm
  • May 14th, Sunday: 11 am - 3 pm

About your hosts: 

Apparao Galleries: was established in 1984, to share and bring about joy in art. Sharan Apparao, the founder, is an established name in the Indian art world. She was honoured by FICCI as one of the top women achievers in the country, for her talent and passion in promoting contemporary Indian art. Over the last three decades, having been associated with well-known artists in addition to many emerging stars, Apparao Galleries has had the distinction of exhibiting Indian artists in cities across the globe.

Dr. Uma Vangal: a feminist scholar, an independent documentary filmmaker and a visiting professor of Films at Kenyon College believes in the notion that everybody today can be a filmmaker using everyday technology. Dr. Vangal has immense teaching experience particularly in the field of Communication & Media studies and has worked in various prestigious colleges including the L.V Prasad Film & TV Academy. 

Experience Description:

Dr. Vangal will explain how one can make a film using basic everyday devices such as our iPhones, iPads, smart phones, DSLR cameras or any other obtainable recording device that one might posses. Participants will learn to use different software ranging from open source to specialised; additionally lighting techniques and available platforms to show their films will be explored.
